The “Two Millimeter” Problem Here’s the thing: if a lamp is off by even two millimeters, it’s not going to sit right in the oven. It’s frustrating and wastes time. We build our tubes to match the exact length and connector shapes of the originals. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or Sk15 bases, it’s a straight swap. No messing around with brackets. Getting the Heat Right High-wattage quartz lamps have to hit hard and fast to soften those preforms. But there’s a trick to it. We balance the voltage and wattage so the heat actually reaches the center of the preform without scorching the outside. One quick tip: if you’re pushing high-voltage tubes to speed up your throughput, keep an eye on your cooling fans. If they’re clogged with dust, the lamp ends will overheat and your filaments will burn out way faster than they should. Built to Last We use high-purity quartz glass because it can handle the shock of heating up and cooling down over and over. Plus, we use a halogen gas fill. This stops the quartz from turning dark over time, which means the IR heat keeps flowing strong. We also skip those cheap generic coatings that tend to flake off once things get hot.
