
Stop Throwing Away Your Bathroom Heaters
Let’s be honest: most bathroom infrared heaters are basically disposable. You buy one, it keeps you warm for a few years, and then one day, a heating element pops. Because the tubes are usually welded or wired deep into the frame, you can’t just fix it. You end up ripping the whole thing off the wall and tossing it in a landfill. We built them to be modular, specifically to kill off that “five-year failure” cycle. The “Plug and Play” Logic We ditched the permanent solder joints. Instead, we went with a design where the heating elements just plug in. Think about it. If a tube gives out after five years of heavy use, you don’t have to call an electrician or spend your Saturday rewiring a chassis. You just pop off the mirror bezel, unplug the old module, and snap in a new one. It turns a few hours of frustrating electrical work into a five-minute job. The Trade-offs (And how we fixed them) Now, here’s the thing: modular connectors usually add a bit of electrical resistance. If you aren’t careful, that can lead to problems. To stop that from happening, we used heavier gauge wiring and terminals that can handle serious heat. We wanted to make sure the connection points didn’t become the new weak spot. Dealing with the Steam Bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam and the mineral buildup, standard contacts just corrode. To fight that, we used gold-plated and nickel-coated terminals. It keeps the oxidation away. That said, it’s still a good idea to peek at the modules during your yearly check-up. Just make sure everything is still seated tight, since heat expansion can occasionally loosen things up over time. At the end of the day, we wanted to stop treating heaters like lightbulbs that you throw away. You just replace the tube, and your heater stays on the wall.
