
Making Your Outdoor Space Warm (and Smart)
Let’s be honest: most heaters freak out the moment they see a drop of water. That’s why we build our infrared heaters with an IP65 rating. In plain English? They’re dust-tight and can handle a blast of water from any angle without shorting out. Whether you’re putting them on a rainy patio or in a steamy bathroom, these things just work. You don’t have to worry about them burning out the second the weather turns.
Heat that actually hits you
Most heaters try to warm up the air around you, which is a slow process. These are different. They use shortwave infrared radiation—basically, they send out waves of heat that hit you (and your furniture) directly. It’s instant. We use quartz or halogen tubes because they hit peak temperature in seconds. No more standing around shivering while you wait for the room to “warm up.” You flip the switch, and you feel the heat immediately.
Getting them to talk to your smart home
If you want to control these from your phone, you’ll need a reliable relay or a PWM controller. Imagine this: you’re sitting on the couch and trigger “Winter Mode” on your app. The system sends a quick signal to the power module, the relay clicks shut, and the heater jumps to full power. Just like that. If you want to keep things from getting too hot, I’d suggest adding a digital thermostat. You can hook it up to a Zigbee or Matter hub, which lets you set a schedule so the patio is already cozy by the time you walk outside.
A few things to keep in mind
Here’s the catch: these units pull a lot of power. If you’re installing a few of them on one circuit, make sure your wiring can handle the load. You don’t want to be tripping your breakers every time you want to stay warm. Also, the chassis gets hot. Give the unit some breathing room so you don’t accidentally scorch your walls. And since that IP65 seal keeps water out, it also keeps heat in. To stop the control board from frying during a long winter night, we’ve added aluminum heat sinks. They pull the heat away from the electronics and keep everything running smooth.
